The Connection Between Cults, Brainwashing and Online Product Launches…

Hello readers!

I already know for a FACT, that I’m going to lose a LOT of partners in the online marketing field for this post.  Honestly, I initially intended to actually repackage this same information, and sell it via a high-ticket course and retire from the sales  LOL

But, I chose not to.  I seriously don’t know why…but I feel it’s my DUTY as an internet marketing advisor and consultant (and dear friend) to inform you of this stuff.

Now, I just want to let you know that a lot of what you see and hear on the internet all refers back to SIX ideals and factors that are somehow connected to the continuity of destructive and non-destructive cults via ‘brainwashing’…and if you want to be politically correct…’thought reform’.

I want you to think back to any and all of the product launches that you’ve been exposed to recently.  I mean, there were SO many…the most infamous ones being Frank Kern’s Mass Control launch, and Jeff Walker’s Product Launch Formula 2.0.

Now, I respect these guys for their hustle, and their success is truly something to be admired and studied from.  But I’m about to let you in on some information that’ll blow your mind, and how it relates to these two launches, as well as other launches you’ve seen over the years.

It all starts with a book written by Robert Cialdini in 1984 titled “Influence”.  Robert studied the human psychology behind human obedience mechanisms and why we as humans obey certain commands and requests from others through the form of ’suggestions’.

Although Robert’s book is very long…I found an article that basically acts as the ‘cliff notes’ (so to speak) for this book.  The article was written by the Rick A. Ross Institute of New Jersey as part of their studies into cults and thought reform.

All I ask is that you read this article summarizing Robert Cialdini’s book.  Notice as they outline the 6 characteristic behind human obedience and influence, how internet marketers and their million dollar product launches tie in so well with this information.

Here’s the link…

You WILL learn something from this that you can instantly inject into your own online business…GUARANTEED.

Please leave comments and voice your thoughts about this, OK?  Hopefully your comments will convince others who read this to go and read the article from the Rick A Ross. Institute.

Enjoy yourself,

T.M.

    T.M.,

Great stuff, thanks! This really ties things together and helps explain behavior.

    Hi T.M.,
Wow, those cliff notes are right on! Thanks for bringing this to the attention of us “little guys,” and how some of the “gurus” scehme to get what few dollars we have. I’ve noticed a big push recently to “give away” stuff. Perhaps well intentioned (or just clever), but a recent blitz by M.F. offered to give us stuff from some of his past products.

I took him up on his ‘free’ give-a-way….. , and I’ve got to say I’ve NEVER seen as many upsells in my life! Just to get the ‘free’ info.

Anyway, I don’t have a problem with anyone getting paid for their work, but I just want to know “who are we to believe” in order to “really” learn how to earn a respectable income on the web? EVERYONE claims their latest ‘product’ is just what we need to understand all the ’secrets’ that ‘they’ don’t want us to know. Good Grief!!!!!

I appreciate your attempt at educating us so we’re not led around as ‘lambs to the slaughter’. Funny thing is, even though we know about all the hidden tactics that are used, it’s STILL hard to resist good copy. Thanks again!

Thanks a lot for caring T.M. These are facts We need to be reminded constantly though. At some point we go and believe someone new until the continued disappointment gets the best of us. Then We start believing no one anymore. Where I come from, lies and deceit are institutionalized. Go figure.
    Once again. Thank You.

The problem is not the questionable “strategies” that people use to get the results they are after. The problem is people have grown accustomed to being
led/being followers living in a world where: thoughts for rent minds wanted, and minds for rent thoughts wanted. It is all about attitude, not just knowing that you can know but knowing that you can do, and whatever you do always linking to a legitimate purpose. A legitimate purpose is one that benefits as many people as possible, it’s honest and it allows one to keep one’s integrity intact.

This reminds me of famous experiments at UCLA where it was found that if a guy in a white coat who was supposed to be a doctor was telling you to use electrical shock on a supposed criminal you would go much further - even to a point that would kill the person - because this authority figure ordered you to. No doubt Adolph Hitler used the 6 principles as well. Power is power, like the knife it can take lives or save lives. Thanks for this summary - i never understood until now what all the fuss was with Cialdini and social proof etc…. now i do - honestly, scary stuff… but its everywhere, once you start looking for it, especially tv ads, the million and one efforts to influence us day after day… nowadays even the children are no longer free from it, so advertisers get to the parents pocketbooks through the children via tv… anyway, this is how the big boys play - for ex., eben pagan and his superguru push right now - so we each must decide how we will use this knowledge and to what extent - but know it WE MUST, as it will be used ON us and AGAINST us regardless of our personal feelings and beliefs and what we do or do not do with it… thanks for sharing, TM… peace, david

I think this is the book that served as the backdrop for Jeff Walker’s original Product Launch Formula.

    Great Stuff!
